Everyone’s on Facebook these days, right? Is your business yet? If not, then you’re missing out on a tremendous opportunity to push your business!

Of course, setting up an effective Facebook page for your business is easier said than done – especially when you consider that going about it in the wrong way can actually do harm. In order to help you use Facebook effectively for your business, we’re going to go over the basics of setting up a Facebook page that gets results.

The Business Facebook Page Essentials

If you’re going to get Facebook right for your business, then you’ll want to make sure that you’ve done (and are doing) the following things:

  • Cover Photo: This is, in many cases, the first thing that your customers will see when they visit your Facebook page. Therefore, you want to make sure that your cover photo is as eye-catching as possible. Also, don’t neglect the fact that the cover photo can be used for marketing purposes – it can carry a written message. Be careful, though. Facebook is strict about the percentage of the photo that can be taken up by text.
  • Profile Picture: After your cover photo, customers are likely to turn to your profile picture. At the very least, you should have your company logo here. However, you can do more! For example, you can set up a profile picture that complements or “interacts” with the cover photo you have. This adds a level of virality to your Facebook page, which could inspire visitors to share it with others.
  • Posts of Content: One mistake that many businesses make with their Facebook pages is this: they only use posts as an opportunity to advertise. You know what happens to spam in your email; the same thing happens to these kinds of posts in people’s Facebook feeds. Instead of “advertising”, try to offer posts that have content to them slimming tablets. Perhaps there’s helpful information you can share with your customer? Maybe it’s just a funny picture? Whatever the case, resist the urge to simply toot your own horn.
  • Interact: Facebook is a social media platform. The word social is emphasized, because you should be socializing with your customers through your Facebook page. Perhaps a discussion has sparked up around one of your posts? Engage your customers! This improves your reputation in their minds, and it inspires them to share your Facebook page (and brand) with others.
  • Deal with Criticism Appropriately: You can’t make everyone happy! Without a doubt, you’re going to receive feedback from customers through your Facebook page that you may not like to read. Don’t ignore that feedback. Instead, take it as an opportunity to try to change that customer’s mind. When doing this, though, resist the urge to fight fire with fire. Nothing is worse than getting into a flame war with a customer. Handle negative feedback on your Facebook page in the exact same way you’d handle an irate customer or client.

If you can do the above effectively, you’re well on your way to having a Facebook page that can push your business. Just make sure that you’re keeping your page fresh and updating it frequently. If your Facebook page becomes a wasteland of old content, your customers will assume your business has done likewise.

One Final Point

One of the most powerful things that Facebook puts at your business’ disposal is advertising. Once you have a Facebook presence that’s working, be sure to look into this. Given that Facebook knows literally everything there is to know about its users, your business can use this information to target new customers directly. That’s an incredible thing that you’d be foolish not to look into!
